1. Please keep in mind anywhere hair grows on the body, it is there as our bodies way of protecting itself. When it gets removed with wax, you may experience post wax red or white bumps, known as a histamine reaction. These bumps do not mean you are allergic to the wax, or your skin is too sensitive to be waxed; it is your bodies way of trying to protect itself from the trauma of having the hair removed. If you are experiencing red or white bumps, it is important that you do not pick at them. Instead, keep the area clean and apply hydrocortisone cream as needed until the bumps subside.
2. It is important to keep the area(s) waxed clean and free from bacteria 24-48 hours post wax. This means no sweating, strenuous activity, pool, sauna, hot tub, or sex for 1-2 days to avoid irritation.
3. Exfoliating is extremely important when it comes to waxing so you do not experience ingrowns. Ingrowns can not be given as a result of poor waxing technique, but as a result of poor at home aftercare! When you are waxing the hair is becoming thinner and finer, and unlike shaving it now has several different layers of skin to travel through in order to get to the top again, thus potentially making you more susceptible to ingrowns. Just because you don’t normally get ingrowns, doesn’t mean they can’t start to occur. Below you will find how to utilize the products I sell in the SPWC studio in order to treat and prevent ingrowns.
